What happens to coolant-contaminated mixed fuel after collection?

In brief

The glycol and water layer is separated and treated; the fuel is recovered. Petrol and diesel cannot simply be separated by settling, so mixed fuel is tested, dewatered and recovered by reprocessing: blended into industrial fuels or sent as refinery feedstock, where distillation separates it again. It moves on a consignment note (special waste in Scotland) from you to the carrier to the permitted facility, and each keeps a copy.

What coolant in mixed fuel does to value

Coolant adds volume without value, so the terms reflect the fuel content.

How City Fuel Services handles waste mixed fuel

Every load of waste mixed fuel is assessed before anything is booked. Tell us the quantity, the containers and any contamination; we confirm the terms, collect with a suitable vehicle, and take it to a permitted facility on a consignment note.
