About City Fuel Services: what we do
We buy, collect and trade waste, mixed and off-specification fuels from anyone who holds them, from vehicle dismantlers, fleets and filling stations to farms, airfields, marinas and households. Our wide range of specialist fuel uplift vehicles and our technical experience mean we can accept many kinds of fuel from difficult locations and still look for recoverable value for our customers.
Every enquiry is assessed on its own terms. Depending on the material and the collection, we offer either a rebate or a collection charge, and we confirm which before we collect. Fuel with no recoverable value is still collected and sent for compliant disposal.
Our Droylsden site
Our head office and main operating hub is at Fairfield Road, Droylsden, in Tameside, east Manchester. It is a fully licensed and permitted hazardous waste facility, able to store all fuel grades and to take consignments from small to large. Our sales and management teams work from the same site.
The City Fuel Services team
City Fuel Services was founded by a team with decades of experience in the oil industry and in fuels production. That knowledge of handling and processing fuels built our Droylsden facility, our fleet and the team that runs them.
Mike Nairn
Managing Director
Mike has 40 years' experience in the oil industry and the biofuels sector, in senior roles across logistics, operations and customer service. He brings deep knowledge of international fuel trading and of building petroleum infrastructure in the UK.

How this site is written
This site is written by City Fuel Services. Guides are checked against official guidance from GOV.UK, the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, SEPA and the Health and Safety Executive, and each guide shows the month its facts were last checked. Coverage areas use real postcode districts from an open dataset, and distances are straight-line estimates, labelled as such. There are no fixed prices on this site, because terms depend on the assessment of each load.
Other services
As well as collecting waste and mixed fuel, City Fuel Services handles bulk fuel uplifts, forecourt crossovers and emergency uplifts. Details are on our main company website.
What City Fuel Services stands for
Britain's foremost recovered fuel buyers, traders and handlers. Thousands of gallons of fuels and hydrocarbons on site at any given time, at a licensed and permitted site that can store every fuel grade.
- Straight terms
- We tell you whether a load earns a rebate or carries a collection charge before we collect. We never publish prices, because no two loads are the same.
- Every grade, understood
- From avgas and kerosene to red diesel and mixed fuel, backed by more than 75 years of combined experience in the oil industry, fuel recovery and bulk fuels.
- Traceable from tank to recovery
- Every load moves on a consignment note to a permitted facility, and receiving sites report it through Digital Waste Tracking.
- Open about what we know
- Our fuel data sheets and 7,809 answers are free to read and reuse, because better-informed customers make better decisions.
- Putting Britain's fuel back to work
- Fuel that others can no longer use is bought, recovered and returned to use, rather than wasted.
