Where does waste mixed fuel come from at fuel distributors and oil depots?

In brief

Tank bottoms, interceptor and drain fuel, off-specification batches, and crossovers during deliveries. Call 07950 582635 or send an enquiry.

Common problems with mixed fuel at fuel depots

Water in mixed fuel: water settles to the bottom of mixed fuel as a separate layer. Sediment in mixed fuel: sediment blocks filters and wears pumps, injectors and nozzles, and it gives microbes somewhere to settle and grow. Sludge in mixed fuel tanks: sludge is drawn into the fuel lines when tanks run low or are stirred up by a delivery, blocking filters and starving engines, boilers and generators of fuel.

Containers at fuel depots

Bulk tanks, tanker residues and IBCs.

How City Fuel Services handles waste mixed fuel

Send us the five details: business and postcode, roughly how much waste mixed fuel there is, what it is and any contamination, how it is stored and reached, and whether you need one collection or regular ones. We assess it, confirm a rebate or a collection charge, and collect on a consignment note.

Terms used in this answer

Diesel bug
Bacteria and fungi that grow where water meets diesel in a tank. They form slime and sludge that block filters.
AdBlue
A solution of urea in water (32.5% urea) used in the exhaust systems of many diesel vehicles. It belongs in its own tank; in fuel it is a contaminant.
