What happens to waste hydrocarbon fuels after it is collected?
In brief
After collection, waste hydrocarbon fuels travels on a consignment note to a permitted facility, where it is tested and sent down the right route: recovery for anything with fuel value, treatment or disposal for anything without. Call 07950 582635 or send an enquiry.
The recovery route for waste hydrocarbon fuels
Most fuel-type hydrocarbons can be recovered after testing and dewatering, into fuel blending or refinery feedstock; material that cannot be recovered goes for treatment or energy recovery.
Recovery and disposal codes for waste hydrocarbon fuels
Recovery operations include R9 (re-refining or other reuse of oil) and R1 (use principally as a fuel); material that cannot be recovered goes to treatment (D9) or incineration (D10). The receiving site records which applies.
Other hydrocarbon fuel in practice
Biofuels such as HVO and FAME are now common at fleet and plant sites; when they go off specification they are handled like other fuels.
How City Fuel Services handles waste hydrocarbon fuels
Send us the five details: business and postcode, roughly how much waste hydrocarbon fuels there is, what it is and any contamination, how it is stored and reached, and whether you need one collection or regular ones. We assess it, confirm a rebate or a collection charge, and collect on a consignment note.
