How quickly should avgas that failed an aviation fuel check be removed?
In brief
Remove it promptly so the quarantined capacity is free again. Aviation fuel that fails a quality check, because of water, the wrong grade or out-of-date stock, must never reach an aircraft. Call 07950 582635 or send an enquiry.
Why avgas that failed an aviation check should not wait
Avgas is highly flammable with a flash point far below normal temperatures, harmful if swallowed and it enters the airways, and toxic to aquatic life. The lead compound in 100LL is toxic and may damage fertility.
What happens to avgas left too long
Over time avgas loses its most volatile components, can pick up water and sediment, and may drift out of specification. Fuel that fails an aviation check cannot be used in aircraft but can be recovered.
How City Fuel Services handles waste avgas
We collect waste avgas from cans and drums up to bulk tanks, across England, Wales and mainland Scotland, from our licensed site in Droylsden, Manchester. Terms, a rebate or a charge, are agreed before collection.
