# Who collects waste diesel from garages and workshops?

In brief

City Fuel Services collects waste diesel from garages and workshops across England, Wales and mainland Scotland, from drums, cans and IBCs. Call [07950 582635](tel:+447950582635) or [send an enquiry](https://cityfuel.services/enquiry/).

## Booking a collection of waste diesel

Send us five details: your business name (or name) and the collection postcode; roughly how much waste diesel there is; what it is and any contamination; how it is stored and how a vehicle reaches it; and whether you need one collection or regular ones.

## Rules at garages

Petrol in a workshop is a fire risk under DSEAR, so drained fuel is kept closed and away from hot work.

## How City Fuel Services handles waste diesel

We collect waste diesel from cans and drums up to bulk tanks, across England, Wales and mainland Scotland, from our licensed site in Droylsden, Manchester. Terms, a rebate or a charge, are agreed before collection.

## Terms used in this answer

**Uplift**: The fuel trade's word for a collection: pumping fuel out of a tank or container and taking it away.
**IBC (intermediate bulk container)**: A plastic tank, usually holding 1,000 litres, in a steel cage on a pallet base. The most common container for drained fuel.

## Diesel in brief

Diesel is a middle-distillate fuel refined from crude oil for compression-ignition engines. Waste diesel is one of the more valuable waste fuels because most of a typical load is recoverable.
